In the Pamirs, by the banks of the Panj River, there is a mountain called Kuh-i-Lal. Since the 2nd century AD, people have been discovering and mining pink and red stones deep within this mountain—stones that in ancient times were known as 'Lal.' The oldest legends tell of this pink gem bringing happiness to brides. Today, such stones of high quality are almost impossible to find. They are never offered for sale. I searched for them for a very long time, and now I have a few of these pink treasures. Their beauty is unlike that of spinels from Vietnam or Thailand—it is something truly special. Originally, this spinel weighed more than 5 carats, but I chose to have it re-cut by one of the most renowned master cutters in the world, Dmitry Samorukov. This gem now embodies the union of exceptional natural qualities and flawless craftsmanship. I continue to create my Egyptian collection of jewelry with gemstones from the Pamirs, and with each passing day, as this stone remains in my hands, the closer I come to the joyful moment when this pink trilliant will take its place in a golden jewel of the collection.
